Energy Performance Certificates (EPC's) are now required by law. All rented property will have to provide new tenants with a copy of this certificate before they move in. An EPC has to be carried out by a Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) who will carry out a property inspection and issue a certificate. We recommend that landlords get an EPC as soon as possible so as to avoid the rush. They currently cost between £40 - £120 but as demand increases they are likely to rise in price.
